Rp..

The RP so far:

As Sheneer was sitting in the plaza looking for loose change, someone dropped a small note in his bowl and dashed away. The message simply states, "Aldaaren needs help." Hoping to get some beer, food, or beer, Sheneer hurries in the direction of Aldaaren.

As Sheneer arrived he noticed Aldaaren looked panicked and was proclaiming doom more than usual. When he is approached he frantically asks, "Can you help me?!? I need you to recover some notes that were lost when I was attacked by a hideous orange beast!!! THESE NOTES COULD MEAN THE FATE OF YLIAKUM! WILL YOU DO IT!?!?"
Sheneer calmly respondes, "Very well, where did you drop them? And how much will you pay me?"
"Over behind those crates to my right near the guards, PLEASE HURRY!" he shouts.
Sheneer returns to the plaza where he gathers a small group of volunteers to help him search. The group was consisted of: Fesek, Glorgal, Meredee, Serusk, and Anarkia as well a few others.
The group hurries over to the crates and began to look for the notes. The notes were found underneath a small stack of crates near the exit to the Oja road. The notes read:

"Erisnas prepared the messengers as the first signs of the eclipse began to show. As the sky faded the messengers took of into the blackness. He ran to the plaza to comfort the unprepared and confused, in order to distract from the horrors that the messengers had been sent to unleash. One to each station to change Yliakum in a way to be remembered, but wished to be forgotten. Confusion had struck the plaza, the young expected an attack and rallied against an nonexistent enemy. The old prayed, remembering happenings of past eclipses.
Even while this confusion took place, the messengers rode on.

The First messenger was given the Egg and a rusted dagger worn from many killings, with one more to perform.

The Second messenger was given a large vial filled with water with something darting about in it.

The Third messenger received what seemed to be a precisely carved statue of a baby pterosaur.

The..."

From then on the page is torn in half. Upon closer examination two orange feathers were found near the note and the tear seems to have been made by a small beak. The group then returns to Aldaaren to brainstorm what this 'hideous, deadly monster' he claimed he had seen. The group came up with several ideas that fit, with each one drawing closer to the answer.
"Cacarass, Groffel, Rat!" were a few guesses made by the group. At last they arrived on the decision that a Kakiri had attacked Aldaaren! Naturally at the mention of this many comments were said about Aldaaren's courage, bravery, and mental state of his mind. After all laughter had died the group continued to examine the notes closer. Based on the condition of the feathers and piece of paper it was deducted that the attack was recent and the culprit couldn't have gotten far. They combed the entire area around the library and Hydlaa exit. The only kakiri that was found was the one feeding off of some seeds on the ground next to Jayose's library. Sure enough, when the team began searching they found the second half of Aldaaren's notes. These read:

"Fourth Messenger took a dark purple potion and a simple key marked with an ornate CA on its handle.

The Fifth Messenger was given the Ever Burning Kakiri feather and a spell of water breathing

The Sixth Messenger was given a small, colorless, floating pebble as well as a Dark shard that seemed to absorb the light around it.

The Seventh and final Messenger was given a bag of scrolls, a stone tablet, and a glowing shard of unknown substance. I am not sure, but before the last messenger left I heard Erisnas say to him, "Take it to the place of many laughs, tragedies, and dreams.:

Right before Erisnas turned to flee I heard him say to the air, "May we see the signs and be fore warned. Brother shall turn against brother, and sister against sister. Governments shall collapse, crime will take root. But, even then it shall only be the beginning of our sorrows." I must go now, the orange creature of DOOM is approaching again!"

The group then agreed to meet in a week after Sheneer went to Aldaaren for payment. Questions filled everyone's minds as to what the meaning of the events was. The little bit of information that they had received had sent their minds on a route of confusion. They did not know this Erisnas, the meaning of the messengers, or if this event was good or ominous. Even with that small bit of information, it took a great toll on them. For the next week the lay awake at night, thinking of that day. They often daydreamed as well while they worked, often turning into heroic fantasies or hideous fears. Slowly they lived through the week, however, and the meeting was almost here...

Now seeing as I had a last minute affair come-up I wasn't there to supervise the RP. Due to this it did not go as smoothly as planned. Next week at the same time will be the next installment. I am sure I will be able to be there to work out some bugs from afar. It is up to the members to choose the location of the next meeting. However, I hear Fesek had a pretty good idea where the hill was.

My Arsenal

Was finally able to perfect my ability to mimic in PS today. This little ability is an in-game ability but one a few creative people can do. Basically it allows me to copy various things other characters can do but I can't. I have to say this first though, I never hack the game, that is what makes these skills so interesting. Now, due to the current state of PS there isn't much use in mimicking. Every once and a while I use it to kill several ulbers but that is rare.
Also, I was able to successfully test part of the RP that I am going to use soon. It is covering a small area in complete darkness. It is a fairly large area so it took some time to work out.

The RP...

After several hours of working the RP I am wishing to perform, Thread, I have been able to hammer out some ideas that I am going to try and incorporate. One of the main ones is not forcing people into combat or similar situations. If you are participating in the RP you will soon see what I mean. A common example will be, while fighting would be easier yet riskier, you can always talk your way out of it, bribe, or run. What you decide to do is up to your character so be wise when you choose! Keep in mind that you won't be able to evade it forever...
I am also seeking a few characters for miscellaneous purposes. I mainly need to know if you are interested in a good/evil alignment. If you instead would prefer to be part of the main group, led by Fesek, just contact me as well.
I have decided to separate the RP into chapters so the dates can be more flexible and give me time to add more on to it. The first chapter will be fairly safe and give a decent idea about what is going on. Depending on your choices (see above) there shouldn't be any unplanned deaths so anyone should feel free to participate. More in a little bit...

So much work... Achievements

Noticing the post below you can tell that I haven't been able to post in a while. With Christmas and New Year's past all the work that I and others have put off have started to build up. Naturally with this build up I have been busy and could not post.

So I have a few things that I have been thinking of putting down to write in my posts so hopefully there should be a few interesting ones coming up. One thing I would like to elaborate on is the subject of certain 'achievements' often performed or attempted by either the hidden or the lords. As with other things in PS people often people for a certain goal are often confused with others who seem to be doing the same. Normally this is because of the ease to the common achievements in other games. A very common one is rock-climbing as it is sometimes called. This activity is when people attempt to get on, around, or in objects that the designers didn't intend to be accessible. I am sure everyone has met the two types that perform this activity. The first is the more dedicated few that are always looking for a spot to achieve, or a place that is higher than they have goen before. As most would know this is one of the ideas that the "Explorer" guild is based on. Now there is also the other few, being much more numerous. These are the ones that, while not actively pursuing the idea of new places but prefer to just copy the dedicated climbers and often use the knowledge to brag of their awesomeness. Now there is not a bold line separating the two. There are always a few that are in a gray area. Now this is mainly due to the individual's interestsand personality whether he persues this or other goals. With this undefined area it is easy to confuse those who love the activity of climbing with the copiers. While I don't want to elaborate on this post to much one of the easiest ways to recognize the two groups, and this applies to other things as well, is their speech. I am going to assume most people understand what I mean. Usually their speech will include begging, leet, and similar speech.
Those who search for achievements often come up with their own as they go. After achieving the goal they will often pass the idea off to friends so that they may try it. Now this is unstructured so anyone who would want to start trying a few things might have a hard time doing so. Luckily for them I somehow, as I do with most things, got mixed in and reformed it into a better system. While it doesn't always have the quality of those that create their own, it can provide a wide array of ideas. I suppose this started because I often hire people to do something for me. As my trust in someones ability to achieve the goal grew I was able to have them perform more difficult things for me. Eventually I competitions between my 'assistants' and the result was very well accepted so it started becoming more well known. That is really the only structure that has come out of it. Otherwise most people follow their own ideas which offer just as great personal rewards, while the tasks will be better suited towards you this way, some of them are hard to think of. Whether structured or unstructured works better for you really depends on the person. Unfortunately I can only have so many assistants at one time. While assistants are limited for those who wish to compete I sometimes release a List. The List idea is not to far from a scavenger hunt, but is more than just finding items. This is where people who work on achievements, unless they are my assistants (their payment is confidential) can make a living off of. When a list is put out a predefined group sets out to complete the list. Whoever finishes first wins the prize. Now Lists can be very odd yet most seeking achievements are flexible.
If you haven't noticed so far seeking achievements by yourself, while building pride in self-achievement, isn't very well payed. Therefor, for the lone seeker, a group can greatly enhance the experience. A group offers the ability to: place bets, seek better areas, defeat more powerful monsters faster, etc.
So, if you are wishing to try and start seeking achievements I have some advice for you. Very few achievements will grant you great rewards, often they will just give you pride for accomplishing an act. Second, always try and seek achievements together. That way you have a chance at receiving a reward for superiority. Third, you will likely die, a lot. Most achievements are what they are because of their increasing complexity. Fourth, if you can try some structured achievements that I put out, especially the assistant post as it can bring you some fame. If not competing for a List is an rather unique RP opportunity.
Finally some examples of what an achievement is: One achievement I often give to new players is to retrieve an item from atop the hill surrounding Hydlaa. While this is easy for more veteran players it is a rather good start for newer ones. Another example: This is of a List: Competitors were each given an item no other competitor had. They had to then use this item and place it in a rather remote place (revealed by riddle) and take the item they received and place it on top of the Crater between Oja and Hydlaa. Then (thanks to some of my tricks) their reward would appear next to them. In this case the reward was 5 armor repair kits, 5 weapon repair kits, a hint to help in the next List, and another rare object kept confidential. Now while I cannot say what the item was the hint was just as valuable. As for the repair kits, it helped to pay for the common damages people looking for achievements take. Depending on what you win and how often Lists are released a person can make a rather decent living. If you continue to pursue achievements eventually you do acquire some fame. Whether it is public or amongst a smaller group depends on the achievement. One achievement that I myself have done is make it appear to snow all of Oja. While it didn't achieve server wide recognition it did temporarily bring me some fame for those who had seen it. As you can see while this did not bring me ANY income of money or items it did gave me some fame and pride.
So for those wishing to start looking for achievements I wish good luck! And if you wish to join my other assistants then feel free to contact me by PM (my forum name is Erisnas) E-mail,
or in-game. However, you may have to pass a few trials first.

So many people...

I figured that I should go ahead and start this since I will constantly reference it in my posts. There are several types of Players or people. Now this is not just limited to Planeshift but their behavior is more easily recognized in that community. I will talk about a few:

* The true noobs: I want to begin with this for a few reasons. Mainly because of the overused insult spread across the internet. A true noob does not have to be new, I have experienced several veteran noob-types in PS, other games, and life. A noob is basically they are discouraged by work and prefer to beg for help, would rather have you show them instead of doing it themselves, parasitic they can latch on to you if you help them too much and will slowly drain your patience and valueables. If any amount of power over others is achieved, it is flaunted at all possible times.
* The Lords- These are the hard workers that have achieved much and operate on a grander scale then most. Players of other categories can be lords if they work at it. Small things make this type distinct from the maxed out powerlevelers, but it is often easy to tell. This type often drives the game and keeps it on track. In PS a common lord type is the RP lords. These are players that have become well known for the RP since they continuously work at it.
* Powerlevelers- Wish to experience all they can in a short amount of time, putting all work possible forward. Often these players experience burnout and quit play since they did not build a base for alternative activities to do after the have "maxed out".
* Casuals- These are people who are not all out but do enjoy playing on occasion for fun. While these players share goals of other types it is hard to define them since their odd schedules make achieving a longer process.
* Hoarders- an interesting category, they love gathering treasure and other objects such as money to inflate their importance. Most can be well-renown merchants. If to many occur in one area, resources can be scarce.
* Dreamers/skippers-This type, while having big ideas, can rarely pull them through to move up. Basically they follow 'fads' about what to do. One day may be mining, and the next day magic with no intention of ever returning to mining. Often causes burnout just like the powerlevelers, often this type can have a seemingly short attention span. Most players are in this group until they finally settle into a schedule. This type worships the Lords.
* The Hidden- Be very wary of this group. I am not speaking of criminals lurking in the shadows, this type can have intentions either way. I myself am one of this group so I shall elaborate. This type can do things in-game and in real life if you met one, that can be considered extraordinary. Often they do not flaunt how powerful they really are but often will pull their knowledge out when they feel a need. This knowledge is highly guarded. In fact it is rarely shared. Often it is so broad that everything must be found by ones self. They can overcome any boundary set even against amazing odds. A decent example of this is after careful observation, skills don't even matter to them any more. They could easily best most players more advanced then them in a certain skill. Overall it is a type of personality. Often they are great tacticians, persuasionists, well concealed, and... poor. Do to the nature of this type money is always an issue. As said above, be very careful of this group, few exist but most are to be feared or respected. Luckily most don't have evil intentions since it would not fit their style. If you are friends with one, be prepared to back up some interesting schemes.
*Cheaters-this type tries to get out of thing by cheating and deceit. While most are crushed early a few always exist in power. Not to be confused with the hidden's knowledge.

Time for some fun...

Don't you just love some of the PS players? I especially love the ones that, despite all their hours in-game, know nothing. For example, here is an interesting dialogue from earlier today, Lets call him by his race, kran.
It takes place between a kran and me when he came up to try and mess with me. I was working on some iron ores with one in my hand when he approached me:

[Kran]: Ha Noob! Can't get anything better than a rock as a weapon? I have two claymores #$^%!!! Hit me I dare you.

[Erisnas (me)]: ...

[Kran]: THATS RIGHT! YA CAn't hit MEEa!*

[System]: You hit Kran for 57.08 damage

[Kran]: Heay! I didn't accept anything, how you hit me?!?

[System]: You hit Kran for 48.03 damage.

[Kran]: Hey! Stop hitting me!! I didn't accept! HOW YOU DOING THAT?!?!

[Erisnas]: QUIZOR!!!

[System]: You kill Kran.

Now to make sure he understood the lesson that I so generously taught him, I paid a visit to the Death Realm.

[Kran]: DUDE! HOW DID YOU KILL ME WHEN I DIDN'T ACCEPT?!? LOSER, NOOB @#$%@ *%@# $#$@ (Profanity continues for a while)

He obviously didn't get the message the first time...

[Kran]: hehe...um... Why are you glowing?

[Erisnas]: QUIZOR!!!

Picking up on what is left undone...

I am finishing off some of the projects that got lost and working on my current ones while I have the chance. Therefore: I shall get all the pictures I have promised below. I am restarting the PS "The rumors begin to spread..." RP More info.
I will see if I can purchase some rare-earth magnets tomorrow as well as working on a way to solder the pop cans. If done correctly it will look more natural and appear to be just a pack of soda (I am thinking Dr. Pepper...). Ideally if it just looks like a pack then it increases the novelty of it use. Especially if I can get a lot of juice out of it (pun completely intended).
Probably won't post more on other projects until their completion.
